OUR STORY

Healthy Families of Clallam County was founded in 1971 by community members who believed that victims of crime deserved more than sympathy. They deserved real support, someone in their corner, and a path forward. That conviction hasn't changed.

What started as a grassroots effort has grown into one of Clallam County's most trusted organizations, serving hundreds of individuals and families each year. The faces and needs have evolved over five decades, but the mission remains the same: free, confidential support for anyone impacted by crime.

What We Believe

SAFETY FIRST
Every decision we make is guided by the safety and wellbeing of the people we serve.

CLIENT CHOICE
Survivors are the experts on their own lives. We follow their lead.

CONFIDENTIALITY
Trust is the foundation of this work. We protect it.

DIGNITY
Every person who walks through our door deserves to be treated with respect and care.

COMMUNITY
No organization can do this alone. We build strong, collaborative relationships across every system we touch.

WHO WE ARE

Healthy Families is a community-based nonprofit serving adults, children, and families affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and all forms of crime. Our advocates work alongside clients through crisis, through court, and through the long road toward stability.

We don't tell people what to do. We help them understand their options, honor their choices, and make sure they never have to navigate the hardest moments of their lives alone.

All of our services are free and completely confidential.

HOW WE WORK

Everything we do starts with the person in front of us.

We meet clients where they are, physically and emotionally, whether that's a hospital room, a courtroom, a shelter, or a phone call at 2 in the morning.

We coordinate across law enforcement, healthcare, housing, schools, and legal systems so that our clients don't have to carry that burden alone. And we do it in a way that keeps their safety, dignity, and autonomy at the center of every decision.

OUR IMPACT

The need is real. And it’s growing.

Year over year, more people in our community are reaching out for support. Healthy Families shows up for every one of them.

Our leadership

Leslie Bond began her career as a frontline advocate, working directly with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. That experience shaped everything about the leader she became.

With nearly two decades in the field and a Master of Public Administration, Leslie brings both on-the-ground expertise and systems-level thinking to her role. She leads with clarity, compassion, and a deep commitment to survivor safety and dignity.

Under her leadership, Healthy Families has continued to grow its reach, strengthen community partnerships, and expand services to meet rising demand in Clallam County.
